My parent wrongly claimed me as dependent.

My parent mistakenly claimed me as a dependent resulting in my return being rejected. They are going to amend their return so that I won't be claimed as a dependent with the 1040-X. I have read this can take a long time. How will I be able to file my own taxes in time if I have to wait for this form for their mistake? Is there a way for me to file (independently) before their 1040-X is received? Thanks.

Sorry you have to mail your return this year even if they amend.  So you don't have to wait to mail it.  Once a ssn is in the IRS you can't efile it again.

Will there be an issue if my return reaches the IRS before the amended one from my parent? Thanks again for the help!

No that should be ok.  The IRS nay send you each a letter but they can say they are amending.
