My New York refund status states my return requires further review, no further information is available, what does this mean?

It means that there was either missing information, or something out of the ordinary that resulted in your return being selected for review.  Instead of being processed automatically, it is going to be review by a person.  It may result in a request for additional information, or a proposed change to your return.
