My mother put me down as a dependent on her tax return. I still need to file my taxes, but TurboTax won’t let me. How do I say I’m a dependent, so I am able to file my taxes.

I found that you have to make over 5950 in earned income to file single person

You must answer yes to two questions at the beginning of your tax return to indicate that you are being claimed as a dependent. Please follow the directions below to return to the personal information section of your return.

  1. Log in and open your return
  2. Click the My Info tab located on the left side of the screen
  3. On the next screen, you should see your personal information listed
  4. Click Edit beside where your name is listed
  5. On the next screen, scroll down and answer Yes to the questions: "Someone else can claim me as a dependent on their tax return" And this person will claim me on their 2019 tax return"
