My immigration status have changed. Where do I update that information?

Hello. I have been a Green Card holders and I became a US citizen. Where do I update this?

It depends on why you are asking. If you are asking if you need to inform the IRS that you are now a citizen, there is no formal reporting requirement. You will just file a 1040 resident return in the calendar year you received your green card.

 

As far as other agencies,  you can update your status with the Social Security Administration (SSA), the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), and other organizations.
