My federal taxes was garnished how do I know who took them?

If your federal refund was seized you will receive a letter from the IRS in a few weeks explaining why your refund was offset.  The typical reasons are back taxes owed, child support, student loan debt, or state debts owed.  TurboTax does not receive any information from the IRS regarding offsets to your refund.

 NOTE: You can contact the IRS Treasury Offset Program Call Center at 1-800-304-3107 to ask if they have an offset for you on file. TurboTax would not have that information.
