My children just entered in USA and now have an SSN and green card, can me and my spouse amended our married filing jointly taxes return and claim them as dependent

Have been filling my taxes return jointly with my wife living abroad with our 2 Children.

I was able to file jointly with my wife because I requested an ITIN from IRS for her, but I didn't claim my 2 children because they don't have green card and SSN. Now, I have my wife and my 2 Children with me here in USA, they have their green card and SSN.

Could my wife and I amend our 2 years previous tax return and claim our children as dependent?

Unfortunately, the IRS no longer will accept amended returns for new social security numbers if the social security numbers were issued after the due date of the original return.

If you, your spouse or dependent child did not have a Social Security Number or ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) by the due date of the return (to include extensions), you cannot  claim the Child Tax Credit, Additional Child Tax Credit or American Opportunity Credit on either your original or amended return. This is true even if you later get an ITIN or SSN.
