Missing Funds

After waiting exactly 25 days (Fed 19th to March16th) my refund hit my account. I went through direct deposit (21 day option) and the amount was shorted by $1400 exactly. I received 72 dollars out of the $1472 I was supposed to receive.

After calling and reaching out to the IRS and Quadruple checking my refund status, I've been met with hogwash. I have no offsets and cannot get in touch with a Human being Representative. I have seemed to hear this is an issue with TurboTax and the TPG this year, when setting up for the 21 day and stimulus check options.

If your refund is short $1,400 then the IRS has records that show you were sent the 3rd stimulus payment so they removed the $1,400 Recovery Rebate Credit that was entered on Form 1040 Line 30.

If you checked your bank account in the March - May 2021 timeframe and there is not a $1,400 EIP3 payment from the IRS then go to this IRS website for how to start a trace on the payment - https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/questions-and-answers-about-the-third-economic-impact-payment-topic-j-payment-issued-but-lost-stolen-destroyed-or-not-received

Unfortunately this is incorrect. I did not receive the 3rd round of stimulus checks, because when I attempted to qualify for the 3rd round. They stated I DID NOT qualify to receive the 3rd round back in march-may of 2021. I have printed statement records from that year, as I keep a copy of my yearly statements because I am a renter and live in an apartment complex. The link you posted also did not lead anywhere as it has been "taken down" or "is not longer available"

There is nothing wrong with this link, it takes you directly to the IRS website Questions and Answers about the Third Economic Impact Payment — Topic J: Payment Issued but Lost, Stolen, Destroyed or Not Received https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/questions-and-answers-about-the-third-economic-impact-payment-topic-j-payment-issued-but-lost-stolen-destroyed-or-not-received

Clear cache on your web browser.

You can go to your IRS tax account to see if there is a 3rd stimulus payment posted to the account - https://www.irs.gov/payments/your-online-account

  • Log into your online irs account at irs.gov/account and click the tax records tab. Under 'Get transcript online' click 'GET TRANSCRIPT'. Select 'other' as the reason for requesting a transcript  and leave the control number blank. Under 'Account Transcript' select 2021. You'll see your $1400 payment listed with the deposit date. The eip3 will show twice on the transcript, once as $1400 and again as -$1400 (which is not indicating the payment was reversed, it's indicating it was received by the bank). Check your bank accounts on those date, both checking and savings.
