Missing Electronic Tax Payment

After completing my joint tax return using Turbo Tax, we owed $1347 in tax. I filed the return electronically on 4/14/21 using Turbo Tax, as I always do, and set the payment to come out of my bank account on 4/15/2021.  Here is it 4/18/2021 and no payment has come out of my bank account.  I received a notice that my efile submission was accepted, so why was my epayment not sent?

The IRS is backlogged and is not able to process returns as quickly as they have been able to process them in normal times.   They do want your payment and will debit your account when they process your return—it just might not happen on the date you requested.  Keep the funds available in your account and watch for the withdrawal.
