Miss half my refund

I filed married filing jointly with my gusband, who was a stay at home parent, he brought in no income. I also submitted an injured spouse form due to him oweing  past childsupport. I recieved half my refund and the letter stated they made an adjustment and I got back my portion. Why did I not get the full amount when he had no W2 to contribute?

It depends. It may have been the way you completed the injured spouse form. Print the form and enter all of your income in the inured spouse column.  Make sure nothing was allocated to the other spouse in column (c). Also be sure you are selecting the correct checkbox for the injured spouse. Likewise be sure to carefully answer the questions correctly in Part i.

You can mail a new copy with a copy of your W-2s and any other document where you have federal withholding.  Be sure to keep a copy of everything for yourself.

There is nothing wrong with sending in a new one for a second look and especially if you completed it incorrectly the first time. Be sure to sign the form.
