Sorry my question was only partially submitted. After I filed my LA state taxes in March I got a letter also in March stating that my return was amended and I owed an extra 30 dollars. I paid that Apr 2nd. Now on June 20th I am getting a letter stating that it is a notice of proposed tax due of an extra 24 dollars and some a negligible amount of 58 cents in fees and penalties. The state already reviewed my return in March so why am I now getting a bill stating I owe taxes. I am confused as it is just a notice of proposed taxes due. I have had no notice that I am being audited by the state and there is no explanation with the bill of proposed taxes due. I paid the amount shown that I owed according to the tax software so I am confused what's going on. Unfortunately I am on hold for 30 plus minutes when I tried calling the number on the letter.
Any idea what may be going on and why I would owe more money 3 months later and after my return was already reviewed once?
