I did my taxes as well as my sisters and parents. Each of us had fees taken out from Santa Barbara Bank that distributed the refunds. These fees were not in the final agreement with TurboTax when bottom line refund was determined. For my sisters, Santa Barbara bank claimed they had a problem with Direct Deposit on Federal and charged $30.00 to send her a check even though the State fund was sent electronically without issue. Shenanigans!! My parents refund came into their back 3.00 short. Time the file the old fashion way.
TurboTax software 75.00
Turbo Tax Fees(3). 180.00

Not worth it any longer.
If you have a computer that can meet the system requirements to use the CD/download that would be much more cost effective to use than using online TurboTax for multiple tax returns. With the CD/download, you can prepare and e-file up to five federal returns and up to five state returns---even more returns can be filed if the extra ones are mailed in. And...you purchase the software ahead of time so that you do not get sucked into the "refund processing fee" mess.
$3 sounds like your state's sales taxes ... that was in the fine print ...
