It said I was getting 401$ back but only 228$ was deposited into my account,why?

did you elect to have your fees taken out of your refund? 

I did but I got the cheapest one & im pretty sure that was taken out before I got the final number of 401$. Even if I did & it didn’t take it,it shouldn’t have been 180$ fee. Pretty sure the one I picked was like 50$

The $401 should be before the fees are taken out.  Check your 1040 line 35a.  Did you also do a state return?  There is separate fees for federal and state.  Then to  have the fees deducted from your federal refund is another $40 Refund Processing Service charge (45 in California).  So it can really add up.  Like $59 for federal and 59 for state plus the 40 or 45 charge is about $160 plus sales tax.
