Is your checking and routing number suppose to have X's in the boxes when you submit the forms?

Yes, the complete information is transmitted electronically however tax returns will print out with the x's for your security. Many people have to provide tax returns for financial and other reasons to third parties. To view the full information for a tax return you filed this year follow these steps:

  1. Sign into TurboTax if you haven't already.
  2. On the Tax Home screen, scroll down and select Add a State (don't worry, we're not adding a state) to access your tax forms and worksheets.
  3. In the left menu, select Tax Tools then Print Center.
  4. On the TurboTax Print Center screen, select Print, save or preview this year's return.
  5. On the next TurboTax Print Center screen, select 2019 federal returns and Include Government and TurboTax Worksheets (optional), then select View or Print Forms.
  6. The information will be on the first page, Electronic Filing Instructions for your 2019 Federal Tax Return next to Balance Due/Refund.
  7. You can view the state refund information on the State Electronic Filing instructions.

How do I print the complete form with the routing number/account number from the desktop version?

On the upper right of the desktop version, you can find the link to Print Center written in faint print to the left of Help Center. Click on it.

Note step #6 in the answer above - the bank routing number and your account number won't print on the 1040, but will print on the filing instructions.

If you have a form 8888 in the package, it will have the account number. It will not appear on the second page of the 1040.  I think this happens if you want your refund to go to 2 different places (such as an I-Bond.)

They didn't think to put this in the help messages.
