Is there a way to see how I answered questions on last year's turbotax?

I don't know where I entered scholarships that I received. I don't remember if there was a question for that.

Scholarships are only taxable if you use them for things other than tuition, books and required fees.  It is entered in the education section and any taxable amount will be on the form 1040 line 1 with SCH in the margin.

Unfortunately the online 2021 program has closed to make way for the 2022 program in December so you cannot look at what you answered.  All you can do is save the PDF and review the return.  After the 2022 program comes online you can save a PDF with all the worksheets ... then you can see the education worksheet which will show what you entered.

If you want to see the questions and answers for a prior year Online return,  you would need to download the .tax file from Online and open it in the Desktop program.

  1. Sign in to your TurboTax account
  2. From your Tax Home, scroll down to Your tax returns & documents
  3. Select the year for the return you want to download, then select Download .tax file in the right column

You can only get the Desktop program for the last 3 years. 2021 is now the prior year and may be locked while they get ready for next year so you may have to wait to download the .tax2021 file. If you paid for the Online version you can ask for the Desktop download. You need a full Windows or Mac computer to install the program.

After you get the program installed the first thing to do before you open your tax return .tax file is to update the program and install any state programs you had. Then open your file. So you first might need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program (go to FILE - NEW).
