Is there a way to let the IRS know I am no longer able to be claimed as a dependent?

I was previously living with my mother and we filed our taxes in January. She claimed me as a dependent because that's what I was. I moved out in February and am living in a different city. I'd like to know if I can have it be shown that I'm no longer a dependent. Is this possible?

The IRS uses either your 2018 or 2019 return in order to issue a stimulus check.  If you were your mom's dependent for 2019 then you cannot get a stimulus check this year.  Moving out in February of 2020 does not change that.  When you file a tax return for 2020, next year in 2021, you can get the credit on that tax return.

I know I can file differently next year. Thank you. I was asking if I can let them know that I am NO LONGER a dependent. That's all. But if not, that's all you needed to say.

Yes, you let them know when you file your 2020 tax return next year.
