To verify online, I need a control number which is in the letter I have yet to receive. I have requested it once again already which is the max times. If I could manage to find my control number for this years taxes I would be fine to proceed with verification online. Is this something TurboTax would have a record of or do I just need to call the irs again and sit on hold for hours?
TurboTax does not get any information from the IRS after you file your tax return. No one at TT knows about a letter that has been sent to you by the IRS, nor does anyone at TT know what number you need.
I HAVE TO VERIFY MY IDENTITY
Sometimes the IRS chooses returns randomly to request verification of identity and sometimes there is something on the return that triggers the request. No matter why the IRS has required you to verify your identity, you need to follow their instructions in order to receive your refund. If you do not verify your identity you will not get your refund.
