Is there a way to account for a payment made to the IRS when amending a return?

I received a letter from the IRS saying that I owe them money for 2018, so I paid them. I received another letter from the state of NY saying that, because I paid the IRS, I might have to pay them, too. I am amending my 2018 return and I found the error I made (It was with one of my 1099-R) and I wondering how I would account for the money I already sent to the IRS while doing the amendment.

Thank You

Line 16 of Form 1040X provides the place for you to enter amounts paid since the original return was filed.

This will allow for the changes that have been computed in lines 1-11 to filter down and the true remaining liability or refund to be calculated on the amended tax return.

Thanks! I see that on the 1040x form, but I am not finding it in the TurboTax Amend app.

Do not schedule any payment with the amend.  Select that you will pay by check.  The IRS will make the adjustments and let you know the amount that is still owed.

That's pretty sad.

That's not a  solution; that's giving up.
