Is there a way for me to find out why I have not been paid my state tax refund yet? I've not been contacted by the IRS to my knowledge. Is there a way I could get paid?

I e-filed through CA and it says accepted on 01/27/2025, however, still have not been refunded. I've long received my Federal Tax refund. I'm not the only one to not receive their state tax refunds. What's wrong?

Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities,  There is no rule as to which one will come first or how much time there will be between their arrivals.  Some states process returns quickly and some are very slow.

STATE RETURN

Make sure your state return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

You filed really early.  Are you certain your state return was e-filed and accepted?   When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say that your return was submitted.  The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected.  If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.

I filed as soon as I was able to. I did have to wait a couple days for the CA state tax forms to be available. Once they were, I finished the efile and did get the email showing it was accepted. I did have to mail a physical copy of my w2 and copy of my DL to the irs office. That was over a month ago.
