I was 67 in 2024 and disabled as of 2001, but the help section for that credit seems to be saying I'm not eligible for the credit in 2024, is that correct? I don't recall ever having heard of this credit before, so probably haven't claimed it in any past year.
There is a credit for the elderly or disabled (you don't have to be both). But because it has not been adjusted for inflation since 1983, very very few people qualify. If you qualify, TurboTax (TT) will automatically calculate it. It goes on Schedule 3, line 6d, which goes to 1040 line 20. It is not a refundable credit. That is, you must have a tax liability to offset to get the credit. Very few people, with that little income have an actual tax to offset.
If you think you qualify, and TT missed it, In TurboTax (TT), enter at:
Federal Taxes Tab
Deductions & Credits
-Scroll down to:
--Other deductions & Credits
-Elderly or Disabled credit
See schedule R for detailed calculations.

As explained in your other thread, Congress has not updated or increased that credit since the 1980's. VERY few people are eligible for the credit. Use the interactive tool to see if you qualify.

And....if you qualified in a past year, the TT software would have calculated the credit automatically.
Thank you, very helpful answer! And now that I know I'm not one of the very very few, I can rest easy; I didn't miss a credit. : }
