Is it a cause to worry if I mailed my amended return 6 weeks ago and I can't tell if they have received it or not? IRS website isn't helping.

I made the mistake of filing as a dependent this year so I amended to say that I cannot be claimed as a dependent. I also changed my address. It has been six weeks since mailing and the IRS tool to check the status says that they have no information on the return. I am worried that it got lost and I have no way to tell since I cannot reach a real person at the IRS.

Amended returns can only be mailed but they are not processing mailed returns right now. The mail is stacking up in trailers at the IRS.

Then after they start opening the mail.......It can take them 16 weeks for the IRS to process amended returns or longer. And they only mail checks for refunds. After 3 weeks you can track it here, https://www.irs.gov/filing/individuals/amended-returns-form-1040-x-/wheres-my-amended-return-1
