Is direct deposit able to be changed before filing for 2020 for the incoming stimulus check?

Can I change my deposit right now without editing and filing my taxes? I no longer have the account used for last tax return / stimulus refund.

no way to change DD info since the check is supposed to go out in less than 2 weeks assuming Congress quickly overrides Trump's veto.    the payment will be sent to the same a/c as the previous one. since that a/c is closed the check will be returned to the IRS to issue a paper check which will go to the address on the last timely filed return. if you've moved file form 8822

also file change of address with USPS.

it's really not 'time' that is the issue.  to prevent fraud, the IRS does not permit changes

here is the latest FAQ from the IRS

No. To help protect against potential fraud, the tool does not allow people to change direct deposit information already on file with the IRS.

If we issue a direct deposit and the bank information is invalid or the bank account has been closed, the bank will reject the deposit. We will then mail your Payment as soon as possible to the address we have on file for you, and we will update Get My Payment to reflect the date your payment will be mailed. Typically, once the payment is mailed, it will take up to 14 days to receive the payment, standard mailing time.
