Is a request on the IRS.gov site for additional information after filing a reason to worry?

Not to worry. Doesn't mean much just yet.

They may just need additional information from you or your employer,etc.the IRS may simply need more time to work on the return.

If they need more information they will send you a letter. You can always call them. 1-800-829-1040
