IRS adjusted taxes

I was checking on my return and found out that after logging into the IRS website that they adjusted my return and now I owe. I know where the mistake was and is related to letter 6475. I only received one letter and not for my wife and we file married jointly. So the amount I entered was correct as I was missing the other amount for my wife. The letter 6475 arrived much later for my wife and that's where the mistake was. IRS corrected and will mail a letter, but they said it was mailed on 2/28 and I have not seen anything yet. I agree with the amount already and know what I owe. Can I just go to the IRS website and submit a payment or do I have to amend my taxes and resubmit again? When I log onto the IRS website it still does not show the amount I owe where I can pay? I thought it would by now?

you can wait for the notice to pay. there will be alternatives like mailing in a check. you should have until 4/18/2022 to pay without penalty. an amended return will likley not be required.

or you could pay now through IRS Direct Pay, but you would have to register first

Thank you. That's good to know I have until 4/18. Just worried that the letter will take longer than usual since the others have too and don't want to be late on payment.
