In 2016, used premier and filed 5 returns, do I have to file the same 5 returns this year, or may I delete one and do a different person's return?

Using the TurboTax desktop editions you can e-file up to 5 federal tax returns, regardless if the returns were e-filed using the desktop editions in a prior year.  Also, once the 5 federal e-files have been used you can still create as many tax returns as needed, just print and mail the tax return.

There is no need to delete a prior year return, just do not transfer that return into the new 2017 tax return.  Just start a new return without transferring.
