If you had the wrong routing number on your return how long does it usually take to get the paper check via mail?

If you opted to e-file and you entered an incorrect account number for direct deposit, the government will mail you a refund check, allow 5-6 weeks from the postmark date.

In most cases, once the IRS has accepted your return (or you've already mailed it), there's not much you can do. If the info you provided is for a closed or invalid account, the government will mail you a refund check.

Wht does it take so long? Why cant you just put the right account # in and send to my bank

Once your return has been submitted, we cannot edit anything within the return without filing an amended return. Amended returns are only used if there was an error in the return itself, not in your direct deposit information. 

 The IRS cannot change any banking information on the return for security reasons. 

So how long did it take for you to receive it I got the same thing going on 

I did the same thing. I sent it to the wrong routing number and it was accepted. They sent it direct deposit on April 6th and I got a paper check in the mail April 26th. So about 3 week.
