If I sent my amended return over 16 weeks ago and the IRS never sent anything back or said anything should I send it again?

I sent it cause I noticed I accidentally marked myself as a dependent when I'm not so I changed that and sent it back around May it is now the last week of october and I haven't heard anything, I was hoping to get the economic impact check but haven't heard anything from the IRS I check the where's my amended return tab and it keeps saying that it takes 3 weeks to post and over 16 weeks to get a return but we're getting closer to 20-22 weeks and I haven't heard a thing.

NOOOO do not mail anything again ... amended returns are taking 6 to 8  months to process due to the covid shut down earlier this year.  https://www.irs.gov/filing/wheres-my-amended-return

The reality is that you are very unlikely to receive a stimulus check  in 2020 based on amending your tax return in May.  It normally takes about four months for the IRS to process an amended return.  Now it is taking MUCH longer.  The IRS has very specifically said do NOT file again while you are waiting for them to process a mailed return.  They might not have even opened your envelope yet.  You will have a chance to get the stimulus money when you file your 2020 tax return if you are NOT someone else's dependent for 2020.

Amended returns are taking more than 6 months to process again this year or even longer so all you can do is wait and check the IRS site once a week until you see the return in the system ...

Even during “normal” times it takes about four months for the IRS to process an amended return.  During the pandemic and due to the severe backlog at the IRS it is taking much longer—six months or more for many amended returns.  Do not expect quick results from amending.  When the IRS issues a refund for an amended return it will be by check.  They do not make direct deposits for refunds for amended returns.  You can watch for information here:
