If I need to add another state to a previously filed taxes, do I need to amend it or something else?
Husband worked in nc while we lived in va. We filed va state taxes but not nc and now we need to file nc. Do I just need to do an amendment or is there another way to fix that? Is it an easy amendment?

If you included the NC income on your federal return, you don't need to amend it.
But you will need to file an NC non-resident return and amend the VA return. You must amend the VA return because it must include the NC income, and because you'll be able to take a credit on the VA return for the taxes paid to NC.
