If I made $26,000 with 2 kids and $15,924 of it unemployment; do I need to file an amended return to get a higher credit or the federal unemployment tax break of $10,200?

Would I qualify for a higher tax credit of some kind and increase my return?

No you do not need to file an amended tax return for the unemployment compensation exclusion tax refund.

The IRS will be sending the tax refunds for the exclusion, starting in May and then throughout the summer for all those who are eligible.

If you had the Earned Income Credit on the original return then there is nothing you need to do but wait.
