If you forgot to include your bank name but entered the correct routing and account number you should be fine. Once your return has been accepted (or mailed), it's too late to change your bank account for direct deposit. If the information you provided is for a closed or invalid account, the government will issue you a refund check via mail.

In the beginning the IRS said if we hadn’t filed for 2018 or 2019 we would need to so they would have our bank information for stimulus check. Even tho I’m on Social Security and am not required to file I did file on April 1 for that reason. I forgot to include my banking info because I didn’t owe taxes nor receive a refund. My question is, will I receive the stimulus by direct deposit using my social security deposit info? Or receive a check in the mail? I need it ASAP of course. Thank you for your help

It depends.

Please see the following for facts related to the payments as processed by the IRS.

You can also refer to the link below as you are not required to file a tax return.  The IRS is updating many of these sites daily so check back for updates as to how they are issuing stimulus payments as it relates to you.
