The IRS requires that certain documents be filed on paper, even if you file your actual tax return electronically.  This generally will not result in a delay in the processing of your return.

You'll need to use Form 8453 to send any required paper forms or supporting documentation listed next to the checkboxes on Form 8453. See Form 8453, U.S. Individual Income Tax Transmittal for an IRS e-file Return

Do not send Forms W-2, W-2G, or 1099-R, or any form or document that isn’t shown on Form 8453 next to the checkboxes.

Also, don’t mail the IRS a copy of your electronically filed Form 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ, 1040NR, or 1040-SS.  If you do, there's the possibility that it will mistakenly be processed as an original return.
