No, your original return will not be affected as it is filed separately. The amended return will need to be completed, printed, signed and mailed for processing. If you are to receive an additional refund due to the amending of your return, it will be sent separately. If after you complete your amended return, you owe the IRS (or your state) any money back, you can pay them after filing.
