I would like to know whether or not my 2016 return was submitted to the IRS by Turbo Tax for my State Return?

Your state return is submitted to your State's Department of Revenue. You can check the status of the return by logging in to your TurboTax account and you should see the federal and state return status on the Welcome screen (see screenshot). **This is assuming you have already filed your federal return**

If the return has been filed, you should see "accepted" or "rejected". If the return hasn't been filed, it will say "incomplete".

In order to efile the state return, the federal return must also be efiled. If you are mailing the federal return, you will also mail your state return.
