I was claimed as a dependent in 2019 but I’ve been supporting myself since august

18 years olds don’t get help even if they pay their own bills and live on their own  just because the are claimed as a dependent by their parents? Did they not think about people that have just got their life started on their own? Any other form of support besides unemployment?

You cannot be head of household if you do not have a dependent - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/family/help/do-i-qualify-for-head-of-household/01/25539

Since you are under the age of 19 then you can be claimed as a dependent if you have not provided for over one-half of your own support for the entire year.

To be a Qualifying Child -

1. The child must be your son, daughter, stepchild, foster child, brother, sister, half brother, half sister, stepbrother, stepsister, or a descendant of any of them.
2. The child must be (a) under age 19 at the end of the year, (b) under age 24 at the end of the year and a full-time student or (c) any age and permanently and totally disabled.
3. The child must have lived with you for more than half of the year. Temporary absences while away at college are considered living with you.
4. The child must not have provided more than half of his or her own support for the year.
5. If the child meets the rules to be a qualifying child of more than one person, you must be the person entitled to claim the child as a qualifying child.
6. The child must be a U.S. citizen or U.S., Canada or Mexico resident for some portion of the year.
7. The child must be younger than you unless disabled.

Well now I feel dumb but I guess I just can’t except the fact that I don’t get the same help in the most needed time

No, you are not dumb.  That is just how the Internal Revenue Code of the Unites States is written.  As authorized by the US Congress since 1913 when the 16th Amendment to the US Constitution was ratified by the 36 of the 48 states.
