I was **bleep** by the IRS this year...

Long story short. Filed federal return on 1/25, accepted by IRS on 1/27. Then nothing. No letter, no nothing. Finally today, 2/20, I call them to see what's going on. They tell me the holdup is my health insurance for 2019. They want further proof I was insured all year. I was. I have the adequate docs to back that up. I have a 1095-B. They want a 1095-A. So now I'm clearing all that up. My question is, how often does this happen? What was the resolution time for you? They claim they didn't even mail me a letter informing me of the problem till 2/18. That's 22 days after acceptance.

There is no law anymore saying you have to have health insurance in 2019. Trump Administration took that out of law. Are you sure they are not asking for 2018. It was law then.

How do I talk to a live agent. Because all I get is they are really busy and can't answer my question about my taxes.

Almost same exact situation happening to me too, although I haven't heard any word about the insurance part....

Filed on 1/27, accepted 1/28. IRS tool claims funds were sent to my bank on 2/12. Called my bank, they did not receive anything. Called IRS, they claim it went to Civista (sp?) bank, which is the intermediary bank that TurboTax/Intuit uses.... Called them, they referred me to the Santa Barbara Tax Product Group. According to SBTPG, they have not received my refund disbursement from the IRS and therefore cannot provide me with an update....

I can't get any answer from anyone on where my refunds are... Almost like it's lost in the interwebs.... It has been a very maddening process. I've used turbo for the last 5-6 years, but definitely won't be using them going forward.

Good luck

Are you sure you selected to have your refund deposited into your bank account or onto a Turbo Debit Card?

@Chuck2709

Turbo Tax will not have a status of refunds.You have to check with the IRS as they are the only ones that will know. Is it possible your refund was offset? You cant check with the IRS for that also.

Please contact the IRS Treasury Offset Department at 1800-304-3107.

Please use this link to track your refund from the IRS. https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/use-the-wheres-my-refund-tool

@AkinaLO

Yes, I selected a direct deposit and ensured my routing number and account number is correct. Used the same service and account for the last 4 years without issue.

The IRS claims to have sent my refund on 2/12 to Civista/TPG, but TPG claims they have not received my refund...

I talked with the IRS, they said the refund was sent to the bank February 12th. The Turbo Tax site says my refund was accepted on February 21st! Yet Chase bank confirms I have no deposits incoming for the next 3 days, when I called today on the 24th. I've had Turbo Tax since 2015 and have always had the same direct deposit information. This will definitely be my last year with Turbo Tax and nothing will ever change my mind.

@JAVENT12  Sounds like we're in the same boat. This will also be my last year using turbo tax - they need to contract with a different intermediary bank because TPG sucks!!!

Please check your deposit information by following the instructions below, to ensure all deposit information is correct and you are receiving the money at the correct account.

Open your return if it's not already open.
On the Tax Home screen with the amount of your refund and status, scroll down and select Add a State (don't worry, we're not adding a state) to access your tax forms and worksheets.
In the left menu, select Tax Tools then Print Center.
On the TurboTax Print Center screen, select Print, save or preview this year's return.
On the next TurboTax Print Center screen, select 2019 federal returns and Include Government and TurboTax Worksheets (optional), then select View or Print Forms.
The information will be on the first page, Electronic Filing Instructions for your 2019 Federal Tax Return next to Balance Due/Refund.

Yesterday I finally got the letter the IRS mailed to me. A whole 29 days after they accepted my return. They wanted a copy of my 1095-A and a completed 8962 filled out and either mailed or faxed to them. I had already done so this past Sunday evening after speaking to the IRS this past Thursday. As of today, Wednesday the 26th, the Where's My Refund tool on the IRS.gov website still isn't showing me anything new. Let's see how long this takes now that they have everything they need.

Are all of TurboTax's responses automated or do employees just not pay attention to the comment section?

I process the same info by FAX Monday 1/24/2020... still waiting and no info showing 🤷🏾‍♀️🥴

It appears the average wait time after submitting your necessary documents is about 6-8 weeks. So I'm not holding my breath. I paid TurboTax $120 to complete and file my taxes this year, and had they transmitted the proper info to the IRS initially, or asked the correct info on the app while I was completing my taxes, I wouldn't still be waiting. And for $120? I'd like to see TurboTax step up and take some of the responsibility here. Maybe offer me a discount on next year's return. I'm a little disappointed to be honest.

That’s crazy! Just like you said if they had of asked for everything all at once while filing we wouldn’t still be waiting. I filed 1/25 got accepted 1/28 now gotta wait another whole month or two dang!🤬

I may be dealing with same issues, but when I called and spoke with tax representative he told me I didn’t need to do anything or attach anything. Just told to “ wait”, wow I am pretty sure that wouldn’t have been getting that response from IRS if I owed them. So disappointed. 😖

I hate to say it but I feel same way. I have used them for 6 years, but no info or help after you complete your taxes and pay. Just common sense information: go online and check “ where is my refund “. Anyone knows that 🤬. I also had no EIC, etc. Just plain Jane tax return.

When it concerns your tax return and/or your tax refund, once the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS then TurboTax has no legal way to access any information concerning the status of the tax return or the tax refund.  TurboTax receives no information whatsoever from the IRS or a State once the tax return has been accepted by the IRS or a State.

Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.

TurboTax is tax preparation software.  It is not a paid tax preparer such as CPA, tax attorney or other paid tax professional who would have the legal ability to check on tax return or intercede on your behalf with the IRS or a State tax authority.

TurboTax dropped the ball here and should make up for it. I could have had my taxes completed properly by a professional for the $120 TT charged me. I understand things happen, and once the IRS accepts the return it's legally out of your hands. But that isn't the issue here. TurboTax asked me on the app while filling out my return if I had health insurance for the entire year, which I did. Once I answered "Yes" to that question they asked nothing further on the subject. And therein lies the issue. Spoke to the IRS this morning and the rep told me it'll be 6-8 weeks. Luckily I don't "need" the money at this moment or I'd be porked.

When you call you hit #1: then I believe I hit #3 and had to listen to a comment and finally they said “ we are transferring you to a live agent”. You can Google the steps, because I dealt with same issue, only got automated response.

My son filed with TT too, and he was sent a letter regarding insurance and the 1095 form. I have not received anything by mail from them and called IRS. I was told I didn’t need to submit anything, “ it is being processed “. However I am thinking that I am going to be told to send that form in regarding insurance in long run, but don’t want to do it if they aren’t wanting it. I am lost, don’t know what to do. Also when filing TT never mentioned attaching form. I am not blaming anyone but for whatever reason I believe that TT should have alerted me to do it before my claim went through. I would love to know the amount of people who are in same predicament .
