I want a cpa to review our taxes, we owe too much money so I don't want to file. is it better to extend than file and amend?

Go to the IRS "Make a Payment" page and indicate your payment is for an EXTENSION.

Your request is granted and you will get a confirmation number for your records.

You must pay at least 80% of your tax, or IRS will be contacting you when you finally do file.

Why would you have to amend? Is there more information coming? If you file an extension, you are still expected to pay the amount due. It is not an extension to pay, only to file.
