I used the tt stimulus registration and got the email saying it was accepted by the IRS the same day. Should I still use the tool available from the IRS just to be safe?

No, the TurboTax Stimulus Registration goes to the IRS, if you put your information in on the IRS web site also, you may slow down you receiving a Stimulus Payment.
