I summited my taxes on 4/20/2020 efile and only got state why wasn't federal money direct deposited with state

I'm trying to see if my federal and state were combined and direct deposited into my son inlaws account

No, they were not combined because they never are.  State tax returns go to the state department of revenue for that state and the federal return goes to the IRS.  Refunds are received from each agency separately.
