I submitted an amended return for 2020. The result was that the child tax credit would have increased. Instead my payment did not process for September. Why?

When you have an amended return pending in the system your eligibility for the monthly CTC payments is affected.   If you do not receive any more monthly payments this year you can get the CTC on your 2021 tax return.
