I received a letter from irs asking for 1095 A. Why did turbo tax have me do a self employed form instead of their regular type?

The 1095A has no relation to whether you filed as an employee or as an independent contractor.  You have to file as a business if you received a 1099-misc with an amount in Box 7 or if you complete a Sch C because you have self employment income.
