I realize that I forgot to include $1600 of child care on my tax return. How do I determine if that will be 'worth' the effort in an addendum?

Assuming you meet the requirements below, you would get between $320 and $560 as a refund.  If your return is pretty simple, you can start a new return for free instead of amending, to see how much more you would get.
