I paid to have my state taxes e-filed but my states would not allow me to e-file, thus I mailed them in. Am I able to receive a refund?

I paid to have my state taxes e-filed in KY and IL but my states would not allow me to e-file, thus I mailed those returns in. Since I paid for KY and IL to be e-filed but did not have them e-filed, will I receive a refund?

TurboTax Online includes

  • Preparation and e-filing of one federal tax return
  • Preparation of a state tax return is available for an additional fee (e-filing included)

The fee's are not only for E-Filing, but also for the preparation of the returns.

If you would like to speak with someone regarding billing and refunds, I would encourage you to wait until after the deadline to call about billing or other non-time-sensitive issues.

I understand there's additional fees for e-filing, however I never e-filed my state income taxes- I mailed them in after I decided to forego the e-filing option. Are these fees able to be waived? The fees would have been signifantly less with just the Federal tax e-filing option. Please advise and provide customer service number for me to speak to a representative. Thanks!

Did you use the Desktop program or the online version?  Makes a difference.

In the Online version the fees are to prepare the returns whether you efile or print and mail.   Efiling is free and included.  There are no additional fees to efile state.
