I paid my 2019 Federal taxes, but just received a refund of the money plus interest?

If you didn't get an IRS explanation letter why your tax return was changed, go on the IRS website and get a transcript to see the changes that were made.

Click here to get to the IRS Transcript request page. Note: you'll need t create an account.

Also, you'll need to enter the IRS interest received on your 2021 income tax return.

Hello and thanks for the reply.
I actually have looked at the transcripts....and it shows my payment along with the refund and interest?
But I don't see any reason for it?

I was initially worried it was a scam check. Now I just don't want it to turn out to be a IRS mistake that is going to turn into a mess

I just reviewed my Record of Account transcript.....it shows all zeros for everything including income????
I actually mailed a paper copy last May as there was some issue with efiling. My check was cashed back then.

Are you able to access your Tax Account Transcript? See Transcript Types

  1. It shows basic data such as return type, marital status, adjusted gross income, taxable income and all payment types.
  2. It also shows changes made after you filed your original return.
  3. This transcript is available for the current tax year and up to 10 prior years using Get Transcript Online or Form 4506-T.
  4. When using Get Transcript by Mail or phone, you're limited to the current tax year and returns processed during the prior three years.
  5. Note: If you made estimated tax payments and/or applied an overpayment from a prior year return, you can request this transcript type a few weeks after the beginning of the calendar year to confirm your payments prior to filing your tax return.

Yes...I am viewing the transcripts.....and it shows $1 income?
My 2018 and 2018 show the correct income.
I don't see any reason on the transcript that it was changed?
