I never received a notice or letter so why would I have to verify my ID?

You will receive a letter. Here is an FAQ about handling identity verification requests from the IRS.

I call the number I was giving and he said I will get a letter but it'll be 3 to 4 weeks before I would or know anything 

Since this is an issue with the IRS, all inquiries will have to be with them.  TurboTax is not informed about any return activity once the IRS has accepted your return.  To expedite issues you should provide the requested information as soon as possible so that your return can be processed.
