I need to find out if I need to populate lines 2b and 3b on my 1040 and where would I find these numbers?

Did you receive a 1099-INT?

Line 2b is Taxable interest, and 3b is ordinary dividends.

These would be included on a 1099-INT or a 1099-DIV.

  • Both forms may come separately, or may be included on a brokerage statement.
  • If they are included on a brokerage statement the will be labeled, but may show up in the body of the form.

On the 1040:

Box 2b comes from 1099-INT Box 1

Box 3b comes from 1099-DIV Box 1b
