I’ve tired to amend but turbotax wont put yes someone can claim me on the actual paperwork it says yes on my side but not theirs. please help me figure out how to fix this
If your amended return says Yes, someone can claim me and you e-Filed that correction with TurboTax,
sadly,
your parents still will not be able to e-File.
They must print sign and submit their tax return on paper via US Mail.
That's how it works.
You cannot amend yet. The 1040X that you need is not available yet. It will be ready in about a week. But it makes no difference to your parents now. You do need to amend, but there is no rush. Even after you amend, they are stuck with having to file by mail this year. They will not be able to e-file their return that claims you as a dependent --- they have been blocked from e-filing with your SSN on their return. The only way they can claim you is to file by mail.
When you amend, you will go to MY INFO and change the way you answered the question that asked if you can be claimed as someone else's dependent. You cannot amend now. Wait for the 1040X.
