I made a mistake on my tax return. On the question about the stimulus checks I put no for the second check instead of yes. How can I fix this if I've already efiled?

If your return has been accepted you will have to wait and see if your refund includes the additional credit. The IRS might make the correction automatically. Please see IRS Recovery Rebate Credit Q D2 What happens if I claim the incorrect amount? for additional information.

 

If the IRS does not make a correction and you receive the additional refund then you will need to amend your return (1040X) and send the funds back to the IRS. Please see  FAQ How to amend a tax return for instructions.
