I just recently filed my tax return and both state and federal have accepted the returns. My question tho is how do i amend my state taxes for the homestead credit?

The IRS website states that I accidently filed for the homestead credit and wants me to fax or mail in a rent certificate and all but I cant find the info i need and I have no clue on how to go about amending it after its been filed and accepted. Im scared this will screw up any chances of me getting my taxes in general seeing how I was already suppose to have my federal taxes by now and still nothing.

Please clarify your question.   I believe you may be confused about who is asking the question.   The IRS would not be asking questions about a homestead credit, by your State Department of Revenue could be inquiring about a homestead credit that you may have claimed.   Double-check where you saw this information and submit another question with more information.

Also, all you need to provide the state is verification of your rent.   You should be able to get whatever certificate they are asking for from your landlord.  Check with your landlord to see if he can provide the certificate being requested.

Also double-check the year.   Is it for 2021?
