I just e-filed my taxes and it says it was april 16th...am I late? It is only 9:21pm on april 15th in CA

You should be OK. Note the following excerpt from the IRS website:  
"If you file electronically, the date and time in your time zone when your return is transmitted controls whether your return is filed timely."  https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc301 (second sentence of second paragraph)
