I have to send my return and pay by mail but I live in Japan

I did my return and I owe money. Unfortunately because I qualify for EIC, even though I didn’t get money, I can’t e-file because I live abroad.

I don’t have a check book and I don’t know how to do money order in Japan. I know I can’t just send straight up cash, but I’ve tried googling for my specific problem but I’m not getting any results.

Could I just send my mail to my family, and have one of them write a check under their name and then they mail it to the Department of Treasury?

To claim the EIC on your U.S. tax return, your home (and your spouse’s if filing a joint return) must have been in the United States for more than half the year. If you have a child and are interested in the child tax credit, the child must have lived with you in the United States for more than half the year.

The IRS offers various options for making monthly payments:
  1. Direct debit from your bank account,
  2. Payroll deduction from your employer,
  3. Payment by EFTPS,
  4. Payment by credit card or debit card via phone or Internet,
  5. Payment via check or money order,
  6. Payment with cash at a retail partner.
  7. Yes, someone can pay on your behalf.
