I have to file a 1040x for 2016 but my software had already been updated to file 2017. How do I access my 2016 data?

1 week after I filed my 2017 taxes with TurboTax software I received a letter from the IRS regarding my 2016 tax return. I need to file a 1040X for 2016. When I tried to open my 2016 return it wouldn't work because I had already updated the software to do 2017. Is there a way to work around this? How can I file a 1040x with turbotax without having to completely doing it by hand?

To amend your 2016 tax return, you will need to open your TurboTax 2016 software. Updating 2017 does not remove your 2016 TurboTax, it only update the 2017.

Follow these instructions to amend and Open the return you want to amend in your TurboTax software program: https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/5114143
